Sodium Hydroxide

Sodium hydroxide or caustic soda is a mineral that is effective in various products including the production of dyes, drugs and etc.It has a significant effect on the quality of finished products.

One of these important industries related to caustic soda is the detergent industry, especially the soap production process using caustic soda, and it plays important role in this process.

Sodium hydroxide (or caustic soda) is a strong base with a wide range of potential applications. Sodium hydroxide is a water-soluble compound in the form of pellets, granules, flakes, or powders. The substance is formed by the electrolysis of sodium chloride and is a powerful alkaline that increases the pH of a substance by adding water, which makes the pH of the substance acidic.

Sodium hydroxide is a substance used in a chemical reaction to produce other substances. This substance causes soap making and is an essential ingredient in making soap. When sodium hydroxide shells or granules are added to the liquid, it forms a leasing solution. This solution, when mixed with oils or fats, produces soap.

What is the benefit of Caustic soda

Since water has no carbonaceous substance such as sodium hydroxide, after the combination of sodium hydroxide and water, hydroxyl ions and sodium ions are separated. This separation of ions due to the negative charge of hydroxyl ions and the positive charge of sodium ions causes a rapid reaction and intense heat, and this high heat due to the hydrolysis of fats are the basis of soap production.

Sodium Hydroxide, a Substance Without Alteration

Soap companies first divide fats into fatty acids and glycerin. This is usually done through a long, vertical steel column called a hydrolyzer that uses high temperatures to break down and break down fats. The fatty acids are then distilled for further purification. After distillation, the required amount of sodium hydroxide is added to the fatty acids. Further, skin softness, soap anti-allergy and etc are added to the existing solution.

these are three main steps to making a soap using sodium hydroxide:

Caustic Soda Production Process

The first step in the soap production process: oil selection

You need to have some kind of fat. The most common fats are derived from plants such as palm kernel oil, coconut oil and olive oil. You can use one type of oil or a combination of two or three, for example, 70% coconut oil and 30% olive oil.

The second step of the soap production process: preparation of rye extract

Make rye extract. Mix the hydroxide wire with extract to dissolve it. The reaction of sodium hydroxide and water, which we described in the previous paragraphs of this article.

The third step of the soap production process: the combination of oil and rye extract

Combine the oil selected from the first step and the rye extract prepared by hand from the second step and allow to stand for 24 hours until completely combined.
